BetFirst
BetFirst puts a squad of pawns against a computer-controlled hostile line on a compound grid. Each side fills its two home rows. A pawn advances one cell straight ahead into open ground, or one cell diagonally to slip past a gap or take out an enemy pawn - captures only ever come from the flank, never head-on. Break through to the opponent's far wall with a single pawn, or clear every enemy pawn from the board, and the op is won. Let a hostile pawn reach your own back line, or lose your whole squad, and the breach fails.
Twenty ops climb from a tight 6x6 compound to a wider 8x8 one, and the hostile AI searches deeper with every level - it plays real look-ahead tactics, trading when it's ahead and never handing away a free breakthrough it can stop. Clear an op quickly with no pawns lost for three stars, bank coins, and push into the next compound.
Every result comes from outplaying the line - no timers ticking against you off-screen, no purchased shortcuts. Sharpen your reads on diagonal threats and forward gaps, and the harder ops start to open up the same way the easy ones did.
