A body on the floor. A room full of suspects. One grid with exactly one true answer. Culpa is a murder mystery sudoku: a logic puzzle on the floor plan of a crime scene. Read the witness statements, place every suspect, and see who is left alone with the victim. How a case plays Place the suspects one per row and one per column, crossing off who could not have been where. Every statement is exact. Tap one to see what it means, so no case becomes a guessing game about words. Keep deducing until a single arrangement fits them all, then name the culprit and hear the motive. Start on The Lantern Coast After a short practice case you arrive on The Lantern Coast, a free beginner world of 10 small cases, each with its own people. Here the Help button costs nothing: it shows where to look, explains why squares drop out, and can place the next suspect for you. Every solved case adds a piece to the map of the coast. Six worlds, 135 cases After the coast come five worlds of 25 cases each. - The bookshop, free from the start. - The night train to Vienna, free from the start. - The casino, where the house is not the only one cheating. - The grand hotel, where every guest has something to hide. - The glasshouse, a 1930s palm house of glass, gravel and still water. Each of these worlds has its own cast of fourteen to sixteen characters, its own painted furniture and floors, and a story thread of 25 chapters running through its cases. Every case ends on a motive and a twist. A daily puzzle, a bigger one on Mondays The daily case travels the five worlds across the week, the same case for everyone, with a streak counter and a time you can share. Mondays bring one larger case. Both have a worldwide leaderboard. Your first solved case of each day earns 50 extra coins. No guessing, ever Every case is checked by computer to have exactly one solution before it reaches you. No dead ends, no coin flips, never two possible murderers. In all 135 world cases the culprit stays hidden until late in the deduction, so the ending is not given away early. Nothing runs against you either: no clock you cannot pause, no lives, no penalty for a wrong placement. Small things that help A "Solved" stamp lands on the board the moment you name the right culprit. Short tips explain Note, Erase and Hint the first time you need them. Music and sound effects each have their own volume slider. Free to play, honest about the rest The Lantern Coast, the bookshop and the night train are free and stay free. The casino, the grand hotel and the glasshouse are one-off purchases, or you unlock them with coins earned by solving cases, so you never have to pay to reach the end. Every case comes with two free hints. After that, a hint comes from a short video you choose, or from a bundle you can buy. Ads only come between cases: after a solved case, once you leave the reveal. Culpa status: one purchase, no subscription Culpa Bronze removes the ads for good and adds a bronze badge and nameplate to your office. Your detective rank grows with the XP you earn by solving cases, and XP is never for sale. A detective game of pure deduction Culpa plays offline in 12 languages, with statements written to read naturally in each one. The leaderboard, purchases and ads need a connection. If you like logic puzzles, deduction games, sudoku and whodunits, this is detective work, one crime scene at a time.
