Each hatched egg contains a dinosaur. Incubation happens in real time, and the game notifies you when the egg hatches—no need to keep looking.
A duplicate dino is never a waste: two identical ones merge and increase in star rating, from ★1 to ★5, becoming bigger and stronger. The Dinodex keeps track of everything you've found and shows you what's still missing.
