Only the current version so far — new entries appear as the game ships updates.
Single-player janggi — Korean chess. No server, no sign-in.
■ Learn while you play
In Learn mode the app tells you how each move went, right after you play it.
"Captures the enemy chariot", "That square is attacked" — only things you can
point at on the board. Vague praise teaches a beginner nothing.
Stuck? Tap Hint for a suggested move and the reason behind it.
■ The levels are a staircase
Six of them, from Starter to Master.
The gaps were measured with thousands of engine-vs-engine games, not guessed.
Moving up a level gets you a slightly harder opponent, not a wall.
■ One puzzle a day
500 checkmate puzzles, every one verified by exhaustive search: mate really
is forced in the stated number of moves, and the first move is unique.
Puzzles with several answers were thrown out.
The daily puzzle is one a day; practice runs as long as you like.
■ The rules, where you can find them
How each piece moves, why the cannon must jump, who may use the palace
diagonals. The boards in the explanations are real boards, worked out by the
same rules engine that runs your games — so they cannot disagree with it.
■ Choose your opening setup
Gwima, Wonangma, Yanggwima. You pick yours; your opponent varies each game.
■ Not a single image file
Pieces, board and effects are all drawn in code. That is why they stay crisp
whether you use Hanja or pictograms, light theme or dark.
■ Plays offline
Works on the subway and on a plane. Your games and settings stay on your
device; nothing is sent to a server.
■ Ads only when you take a move back
A rewarded ad appears only for a second take-back in a game against the AI.
The first one is free, and Learn and two-player mode have no limit at all.
Playing, learning, all 500 puzzles and the rules reference are fully
available without ever watching an ad.
The exact rule variant is written out in the app's Rules screen: bikjang is
forbidden, passing is legal, and past 200 moves the game is decided on points.
