Nestling Mahjong Solitaire is a calm game of matching tiles on a wooden table, with a nest that grows as you play. Clear the board two tiles at a time. A tile is free when nothing sits on top of it and its left or right side is open. Match two free tiles with the same face and they lift away. Clear them all and the table is yours. THIRTEEN BIRDS, THIRTEEN BOARDS Your first game is the Hatchling, a 24-tile board that teaches the free-tile rule as you play and cannot be lost. EVERY BOARD CAN BE CLEARED Before a board is ever dealt to you, the game has already cleared it once. When you get stuck it is a puzzle to work out, never a dead end you were handed. REWIND TO SAFETY After each move the same solver checks whether your board can still be cleared. If it can't, the little nest beside the clock turns amber. Tap it and the game goes back to the last move from which you could still clear the table. LEARN THE TILES Press and hold any tile to see its name - 7 Characters, with its Chinese characters and pinyin, 七萬 qī wàn. The Tile guide in the menu lays out every tile by suit: characters, bamboo, circles, winds, dragons, flowers and seasons. A NEST THAT GROWS Every board you clear adds a feather in its bird's colour to your nest. Clear one with no hints, no undos and no shuffles for a flawless medal. Moss, speckled eggs, plum blossom, a red ribbon and a golden feather are earned by play, and you choose which to show. A GAME OF THE DAY A new board every day, always winnable. Hold your phone upright for the tall Pagoda or turn it sideways for the Turtle; each has its own daily board, the same for every player. Keep a daily streak going if you like, or ignore it - nothing expires and nothing is lost. HELP WHEN YOU WANT IT • Hint shows you a pair to take, from the same solver • Undo as many moves as you like • Shuffle the tiles when you are stuck - the new arrangement is built so the board can still be cleared • Blocked tiles are shaded so the free ones stand out, and an easy-read tile set swaps the characters for numbers and pictures CHALLENGE A FRIEND Every board has a short code. After you clear a board, send a friend a challenge: the link opens the very same board for them, so you can compare times. Codes pasted from a message work too, from Menu > Deal codes.
