SERGEANT MAJOR — 3-5-8 Also known as 3-5-8 and 8-5-3, Sergeant Major is a classic three-player trick-taking game with a long history of play in the British forces and across India and the Middle East. Each player receives 16 cards from a standard 52-card deck, with the remaining four cards forming the kitty. The dealer chooses the trump suit, discards four cards, and picks up the kitty. Each player then has a different target: 8 tricks for the dealer • 5 tricks for the second player • 3 tricks for the third player Beat your target and you move up. Fall short and you move down. After each hand, the cards are exchanged between players according to who finished above or below their target. This creates a constantly changing game where every hand matters. Score 12 or more tricks in a single hand and you win the game outright. PAANCH TEEN DO — 5-3-2 The fast-paced Indian classic, also known as 5-3-2 and 3-2-5. Trump is chosen from the opening five cards, then the remaining cards are dealt around the table. Players have targets of: 5 tricks • 3 tricks • 2 tricks The targets rotate between players across the rounds, giving everyone a chance to take on the toughest target.
