HOW TO PLAY OKEY? Okey is played by 4 players with 106 tiles. The tiles come in yellow, blue, black and red, numbered 1 to 13, two of each; there are also 2 fake okeys. The goal is to be the first to finish the hand by arranging all your tiles into sets and discarding the last tile. Each hand, 14 tiles are dealt to every player. The player who goes first receives one extra tile and plays the first turn by discarding a tile without drawing. After the deal, one tile is turned face up as the indicator; the tile one higher than the indicator is the okey (if the indicator is 13, the okey is 1). The okey can be used in place of any tile, like a joker. The fake okey only takes the place of the okey tile. Sets are either series or group sets. A series set consists of consecutive numbers of the same color (like Red 5-6-7); unlike in 101, the 12-13-1 set is valid in Okey. A group set consists of the same number in different colors (like Blue 9 - Yellow 9 - Black 9) and can have at most 4 tiles. Every set has at least 3 tiles. On your turn, you draw either from the pile in the middle or the tile discarded by the previous player, then discard a tile from your hand. When the 14 tiles in your hand, including the one you drew, all form sets, you finish the hand by discarding the remaining tile. A hand can also be finished with 7 pairs. If nobody finishes before the middle pile runs out, the hand ends in a draw. SCORING • Finishing the hand normally deducts 2 points from each of the other players; finishing by discarding the okey tile deducts 4. • A player holding the indicator tile can show it on their turn and take 1 point from each of the other players. • Colored tiles (black and red) count x2, a pairs finish x2, and a pairs finish with the okey x2.
